Wintertime Blues -- The Benefit Concert (Evil Teen)

Holiday albums are generally played for only a month or so each year, and considering how annoying most of the songs on these records are, that's probably for the best. However, leave it to the hippies to take this time-honored tradition of turning good tidings into bad tunes and turn it on its head. On this double-disc live set, artists such as Gov't Mule, Derek Trucks Band, Edwin McCain, and Susan Tedeschi replace obligatory renditions of "The Christmas Song" and "Silent Night" with rockers such as "Bad Little Doggie" and "Devil Likes It Slow." Calling this a Christmas album is a bit of a stretch -- "Merry Christmas Baby" is the only holiday-specific song -- but it is appropriate music to have in the background of seasonal parties and equally appropriate for celebrating the best part of the holidays: when the loved ones leave.
