Transgender Day of Remembrance

When: Tue., Nov. 20, 7:30 p.m. 2012

Last Christmas Eve, Dee Dee Pearson was killed inside her apartment, after her assailant learned that she was transgender. Remember her and other victims of transgender hate crimes at the Transgender Day of Remembrance at 7:30 p.m. at the J.C. Nichols Fountain (northeast corner of 47th Street and Main). "This is a solemn occasion each year when the transgender community and allies worldwide take time to remember nonconforming people worldwide who have been killed for being themselves," says Sandra Meade, chairwoman of the Kansas Equality Coalition.
