Not That Cheney

What a historical novel does that a regular history book can’t do is focus on the footnotes. A general history of architecture would devote significant attention to the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the man behind the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Only passing reference would be made of the tumultuous affair Wright had with a married woman and proto-feminist intellectual named Mamah Borthwick Cheney or the personal turmoil that ensued after the illicit couple took off for Europe. Journalist-turned-novelist Nancy Horan focuses her first novel, Loving Frank, on Cheney and the affair. Tonight at 7, the best-selling novelist will speak about her work at an event, organized by the ever-resourceful Rainy Day Books, at Unity Temple on the Plaza (707 West 47th Street). Call the bookstore at 913-384-3126.
