KC's Got Talent

Calling all freaks, geeks and wild and crazy guys: Now is the time to show off your uncanny ability to chug a beer while balancing on one hand with your feet behind your head, or swallow eight pool balls or sing "Gloria" just like Patti Smith. In fact, at the New Year's Eve Donkey Gong Show, the weirder and wilder your talent, the better, and the less likely the judges (musician Amy Farrand, actor David Wayne Reed, and Pitch music editor Elke Mermis) bang the gong and kick you off the stage. The grand prize is $500 — not bad for a five-minute performance. The contest starts at 10 p.m. at RecordBar (1020 Westport Road), and after midnight, local rockers the Columns take the stage (following a PBR toast). Cover is $10 (or $8 if you dress up '70s-style). For more information or to sign up for the talent show, see or call 816-361-2455.— Angela Lutz
