Jemma Griffiths has a secret identity: Jem, the Welsh singer-songwriter whose diverse rhythms and introspective lyrics have helped her land hits such as "They" and "Flying High" stateside. Don't mistake her for the other Jem, the outrageous lead singer of Jem and the Holograms, who used to throw down weekly with the Misfits and the Stingers. For one thing, Jem Griffiths is not a pink-haired, plastic doll. And even though she's not as chiseled as her stylish cartoon counterpart, her knack for bright melodies and that seductive, sometimes haunting voice make her far more captivating than any '80s anime creation. Plus, there's that irresistibly sexy Welsh accent, and everyone knows that irresistible always trumps outrageous.
