Go to School

Harvard, Yale, Oxford — these names have long represented the gold standard in higher education, offering a prestige unmatched by non-Western institutions. But times are changing. As author Ben Wildavsky reports in his book The Great Brain Race: How Global Universities Are Reshaping the World, more people than ever study outside their home countries, and universities in China, Saudi Arabia and India now compete with the Ivy League stalwarts for students, faculty and reputation. Wildavsky, former education editor for U.S. News & World Report, talks about what all this means at 6:30 p.m. during a presentation at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library (4801 Main, 816-701-3481).
Tue., June 1, 6:30 p.m., 2010
