FUZZY BUZZY FURRY FUNNY

Bambi is perhaps the quintessential nature vs. man cautionary tale in the animation genre, but somewhere along the way, we all get distracted by the giddy "why Goofy wears pants" debate. Today the Missouri Department of Conservation shows its sillier side by presenting a daylong marathon of animalcentric animated features for families coming down from their holiday sugar and adrenaline rushes. First up is Over the Hedge (9 a.m.). Then it's Open Season (11:30 a.m.) and Bee Movie (2 p.m.). The movies screen in the auditorium at the Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center (1401 Northwest Park Road, Blue Springs, 816-228-3766). Whether you come for one movie or all three, admission is free. But while you're there, be sure to check out the center's full schedule of upcoming nature-related programs.
