Eco Stroll

Make up for your oversized carbon footprint by taking part in the 14th-annual EarthWalk. The three-mile amble begins at Theis Park (across the street from the south lawn of the Nelson-Atkins Museum) and continues along Brush Creek. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., but walkers who arrive early can limber up with free yoga at 8. Some eager marchers have been gathering pledges for weeks at Money gathered through EarthWalk benefits the local sustainability organization Bridging the Gap, and greenies who raise pledges are eligible to win prizes. Drumming up dollars isn't required to join the procession, though. In conjunction with EarthWalk, StoneLion Puppet Theatre presents the Brush Creek Green Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The party includes a puppet show on the water, plus hoop dancers, jugglers, art and kid-friendly music on the land. See for more information about the walk and the fest.
