UPDATE: KCTV5 reported that police arrested two people in connection with the bodies found in a burning car Monday night.

Original Story:
The Murder Squad and Crime Scene Unit were investigating a double homicide Monday evening after two bodies were found in a burning car near Gladstone Boulevard and Cliff Drive.



Firefighters arrived on the scene around 6:30 p.m. to extinguish the fire. After the fire was put out, firefighters found two bodies burned beyond recognition inside the vehicle.

Police say the Jackson County Medical Examiner will work on identifying  the victims and determining the cause of death.

UPDATE: Kansas City police say the bodies found in a burning car Monday night

are those of a man and a woman. Police say they've identified the man

but haven't released his name. They're still trying to ID the woman.

Police believe the female victim was of Hispanic origin, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches, weighed between 150 and 180 pounds,

and wore her black hair below her shoulders. The woman had a pierced

bottom lip and pierced ears. She was also wearing bracelets, a necklace and

artificial fingernails. If you can help ID the woman, call the TIPS
