Kansas State unafraid to meet Duke because 'It's not like we're Mount St. Mary's'

We're going to find out just how good the Kansas State Wildcats are tonight when the No. 4 ranked team in the nation takes on No. 1 Duke in the championship game of the CBE Classic at the Sprint Center.

The game is sold out and if you believe ex-Kansas City Star sports reporter and current Yahoo Sports writer Jason King: "Kansas State can beat top-ranked Duke." You may not have to believe him. Just look at last night's win.

K-State rained threes -- and hell -- on No. 18 Gonzaga on the way to an 81-64 victory. The thought of taking on the best team in the land didn't frighten Kansas State coach Frank Martin, who dropped an amazing quote.

"I'm not going to try to prepare them by saying, 'Hey, we're playing Duke,'" Martin said. "We play in the Big 12. We played Kansas (in 2008) when they were No. 2 in the country with seven pros on their team, and beat them. We played Texas last year when they were ranked No. 1 and beat them.

"It's not like we're Mount St. Mary's. We've played these kinds of games before."

Come March, K-State better hope they don't draw the Mountaineers. That's bulletin board material.

As for Duke, the Blue Devils held off a Marqutte rally for an 82-77 victory.

If you weren't lucky enough to score tickets to the game, you can watch it at 9:15 tonight on ESPN2.
