  • Deborah Meeks is now a convicted killer.

Four days before Christmas last year, Deborah Meeks shot her boyfriend, Wesley U. Smith, in the chest, killing him.

Last week, just five days before her 48th birthday, a jury convicted Meeks of second-degree murder.

Smith's body was found on December 21, 2009, inside a residence in the 2900 block of Hutchings Street in Kansas City, Kansas. He was 53. Meeks was charged with his killing two days later.

Now convicted, Meeks is scheduled to be sentenced at 11 a.m. on January 7, 2011.
