ESPN asked writer Bill Simmons to critique the Red Sox vs. Royals game last Thursday and keep a journal of his thoughts. Simmons produced this piece, which will hit home for those who felt their opening day excitement fade away in a pair of typical Royals losses last week. Simmons, a Sox fan who admittedly loves our sparkling outfield fountains, gets a few things right in this piece, such as the fact that Zach Greinke's decent outing could be considered good only in small-market baseball.
