The fall seasonal from Boulevard is a Belgian-style ale. It replaces the Seeyoulator Doppelbock in the local brewer's lineup. The tasting notes suggest that the Nommo Dubbel can be enjoyed with "a variety of meats and game, as well as aged and aromatic cheeses."
There's already a huge range of reviews out there (including one comparison with actor Timothy Olyphant) — Boulevard continues to reach out to local beer bloggers. And while some drinkers have been put off by the beer's nose, the rest are impressed with the subtlety of the clove and anise. The amber beer also clearly has molasses, cloves and cinnamon notes along with a strong malt profile. Nommo Dubbel has 8.1 percent alcohol by volume.
Boulevard has also announced that it will be donating $1 to the American Red Cross for every barrel of beer sold in Missouri in September to aid in the Joplin relief effort.
“We haven’t forgotten,” said John McDonald, Boulevard's founder, in a release. “We hope to be able to make a meaningful contribution to the long road of restoration that lies ahead.”
