The Found Footage Festival brings VHS culture to town this weekend

Not to be confused with Found magazine, which artfully repurposes found notes, the Found Footage Festival is a celebration of ridiculous VHS tapes found at "garage sales and thrift stores and in warehouses and dumpsters throughout the country," by the show's hosts, Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher. Think job-training videos, exercise videos, sex-ed videos, and terrible music videos, mostly from the 1980s and 1990s. This one with professional pool shark Pretty Boy Floyd is pretty amazing.

Found Footage Festival hosts two shows in Kansas City this weekend. The first is tonight at 10:30 p.m. at Alamo Drafthouse, where Pickett and Prueher present FFF's "Best of the Midwest," featuring tapes they found around these parts. They'll also be at Rockhurst University at 9 p.m. Saturday night, in the Rockroom.
