Earlier this month, the owners of Bocomo Bay, a Columbia, Missouri-based head shop, were slapped with a federal indictment for allegedly distributing over $2 million worth of K2. At 11 a.m. yesterday, local retailers of the synthetic drug were the target of a metro-wide raid that hit 45 locations and netted 31 arrests, over $100K in cash and somewhere in the neighborhood of 24,000 of those little packets K2 comes in.

The busts occurred in both Kansas and Missouri, and were carried out by local, state and federal authorities. Gladstone's Voodoo Tobacco and Pipe Company, formerly known as Smoke and Mirrors, was among the stores hit. As Fox4KC reports, that's where Logan Pope bought K2 shortly before getting into a car accident that took the life of 25-year-old Ashley Miller last year. (Pope pleaded guilty to driving while under influence of the drug last week.)

Assistant Jackson County Prosecutor Michael Hunt told the Star that the raids are "just the beginning" and that "If you're selling this stuff, we're coming after you."

If you're interested in boning up on K2, The Pitch has a long history with the substance.
