  • Police positively identified Rogers' body on Tuesday.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner announced on Tuesday that a body found in south Liberty was indeed that of Chad Rogers, the 30-year-old Liberty man who had previously gone missing.

The announcement was something of a formality, as family friends had indicated that police suspected the body found on July 26 was Rogers.

An investigation by the Liberty Police Department found no signs of foul play but could not determine a cause of death and won't do so until an autopsy is complete.

Rogers, a long-distance runner, went out for a run at about 8:30 p.m. July 22 but hadn't been seen since.

Various media reports indicate that his body was discovered in a portable toilet by a construction worker near the site where an overpass is being built above Interstate 35.
