Call it BRGR wars. A little more than two years after Burger King's Whopper Bar replaced Chef Burger, the last locally owned burger shop in the Power & Light District, another local burger joint is stepping up to the plate. BRGR Kitchen + Bar opens tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the former Fran's Restaurant space at 11 East 14th Street.

This is the second BRGR location for Bread + Butter Concepts, which also owns and operates Gram & Dun, Urban Table and Taco Republic (which has a branded food truck and a location slated to open later this year across from Oklahoma Joe's in Kansas City, Kansas). While the menu will be similar to the original location in Prairie Village, the new restaurant will have lobster grilled cheese, gulf oysters and a KC Butcher BRGR made with hanger steak, Boursin-horseradish cream cheese, caramelized onions, roasted garlic, and an onion ring on a sourdough bun. The downtown BRGR is located below the Kill Devil Club and will be open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.
