David Allen has been charged in the shooting death of Thomas Dean in Waldo Saturday afternoon.

Kansas City police were called to the scene of a shooting at 205 West 78th Street around 2:49 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Dean, 58, wounded in the driveway of the residence. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Allen around 3:07 p.m. Court records say he had a .38 special in his right front pocket. Allen refused to speak with detectives. Court records say an argument preceded the shooting.

Allen, a 37-year-old California man, is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He's being held on $150,000 cash bond.

On Sunday afternoon, police were investigating a second homicide: a "suspicious death" at 4700 North Bennington. UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 47-year-old David Ruth, of Kansas City, Missouri. Police say Ruth was the victim of a shooting, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

Around 1 p.m., police were called after a man was found dead of what was believed to be unnatural causes. The victim has yet to be identified.
