Twinkies will be back on shelves in July

Twinkies are to return to store shelves.

The price of old Twinkies for sale on eBay is about to plummet. Michael Cramer, executive vice president of Hostess Brands, told NBC News today that the golden, cream-stuffed cakes will be back on store shelves "probably the latter half of the month."

After Hostess went bankrupt last November, production of all its products ceased. As The Pitch discovered then, there were runs on all of Hostess treats and breads at their outlet stores. That soon led to cake hoarders selling them online for questionably inflated prices.

The new version of Hostess will be headquartered in Dallas and KCMO. Additionally, the Hostess announcement is also promising economic news for the Hostess bakery in Emporia, Kansas. In a press release, Hostess announced that it's immediately hiring 250 employees at the shuttered plant.

The online market for Twinkies so far seems unaffected by the announcement. Some users are selling a single box for $13.99, though most are going for around six bucks a box. After this long, even those out there most addicted to Twinkies can probably just wait for July.
