Dog owners who congregate at Loose Park have a formal name -- the Kansas City SCOOP. The more responsible ones even carry extra plastic bags to pick up other dog owners' poop. But their vigilance doesn't stop humorless Brookside cops from doling out leash-law tickets. So until Kansas City catches up with most decent-sized cities and designates a park where canines can romp untethered, dog owners must frequent Johnson County, which (ahem) has several very nice off-leash parks. Heritage Park is huge. With trails through shady woods, a little lake for doggies to splash in and a field that blooms with wildflowers, it just may be the perfect dog park. It wouldn't hurt Kansas City Parks and Rec officials to visit.
