Best Bar for a Nightcap

The Cigar Box

Like a mirage, the Cigar Box begins shimmering in the haze of déjà vu and desperation sometime after the fourth glass of scotch. A refuge from the prepackaged Power & Light District, the shabby, old-school hangout is home to Al Latta, the kitschy lounge singer extraordinaire who seemingly hijacked karaoke night. Rocking a sequined black top with a deep V-neck and a woolly gray hairpiece, Latta croons the classics, from Neil Diamond to Elvis to Sinatra. If you sit close enough to his makeshift stage, he may let you sing a few lines, and he loves to dance with the ladies. Just don't leave anything behind at the end of the night — the place turns to dust at dawn.
