With the possible exceptions of Genco olive oil and Enzo Ferrari's high-performance automobiles, Italy's greatest export is Sophia Loren. And while we wish she exhibited less frumpy taste in eyewear, there is no doubt that Signora Ponti has held up more splendidly than most of her sex-symbol contemporaries. (That was a 75-year-old grandmother rocking the slinky, black evening gown alongside actresses half her age in last year's Nine. Seen Bardot or Ekberg lately?) At 6:30 p.m. at the Kansas City, Missouri, Central Library (14 West 10th Street, 816-701-3400), a younger, blonde Loren stars opposite Anthony Quinn in Heller in Pink Tights, George Cukor's 1960 Western about a traveling theatrical troupe. The library's "Love, Italian Style" film series spotlights Oscar winner Loren on subsequent Mondays in July with the 1965 World War II spy drama Operation Crossbow and Charlie Chaplin's final film, 1967's A Countess From Hong Kong, co-starring Marlon Brando.— Brent Shepherd
