This Hastings, England, DJ and producer persuaded his neighbor, trance/progressive-house kahuna John Digweed, to book him in the "experimental" room at his legendary club Bedrock in 1993. The dance world's equivalent of becoming a made man in the Mafia, the assignment launched Ashley Casselle on his way to further marquee gigs and to recording several songs under his Ashtrax and Daydreemer monikers that became staples of the '90s' burgeoning prog-house movement. With such résumé enhancers as opening for Sasha & Digweed on their massive Northern Exposure tour and appearing on Gatecrasher's Global Sound System extravaganza, plus working with dance-floor maestros such as Timo Maas and Paul Van Dyk, Casselle has earned his rep for moving the masses. Don't expect a night of monolithic beats from this well-traveled Brit, who prefers to pepper his sets with dub-inflected techno, deep house and disco.
