9B-Ballin'

March was a rough month for University of Kansas basketball fans. The Jayhawks lost to UCLA in the Sweet 16, and Julian Wright and Brandon Rush announced their intentions to go pro. But then a magic blue fairy made Rush pull out of the draft, and hope ran rampant again in the land of the Phog. Preseason polls have the 'Hawks ranked No. 4, and Vegas gives them 10-1 odds to win the national championship. The team has six seniors to lead the charge, and Rush will be expected to play at a more consistent clip than his spotty first two seasons. With support from sophomore stud Darrell Arthur and a promising freshman class featuring 6-foot-11-inch center Cole Aldrich, anything less than a Big 12 championship and a Final Four berth will be a disappointment. Tonight should look like a street-ball clinic as the Jayhawks begin the regular season at Allen Fieldhouse (1651 Naismith Drive in Lawrence, 785-864-3141) against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
