It's that time of year again. Oh, yes. That time when we look back at all the wonderful things that have happened in our local music community and recognize some movers and shakers. The time, friends, for The Pitch
Things are a little different this time around. The ballot has gotten a bit of a revamp. We've cut and consolidated some categories and come up with a couple of new ones. Nominations have been trimmed to five per category. The reasoning behind this is simple: We wanted to spotlight some local artists that have, perhaps, been overlooked but are still doing great things and making great sounds. This means that some perennial nominees were bumped, and a lot of worthy artists didn't get a nomination. (If you are saddened and outraged by this revelation, I apologize - there is only so much room, but there is always next year.)
Don't worry - not all of this is a huge shake-up. You will likely recognize a large percentage of the nominees. And if you don't, well, just wait.
Music Showcase format is different, too. We're breaking it up over two weeks: Saturday, July 19, at the Riot Room, and Friday, July 25, at Knuckleheads. Details to come on the plans for those evenings.
Voting on the Showcase Ballot is open until Monday, July 28, at 9 a.m. Winners will be announced at The Pitch Music Awards on Sunday, August 3, at the Uptown Theater and in The Pitch
on Thursday, August 7.
