It's a great week for Kansas City craft-beer drinkers. The KC Bier Co. opened yesterday, and today Martin City Pizza & Tap opens its doors.

The new craft brewery at 410 East 135th Street serves six beers - Black Saison, ESB, IPA, Porter, Strong Dark Belgian and Witbier - and also cooks up brick-oven pizzas.

The new place isn't far from the Martin City Brewing Co., 500 East 135th Street (Pitch food critic Charles Ferruzza reviewed the restaurant in February 2012).

Both places are the brainchild of Matt Moore and Chancie Adams. In July 2013, when the taproom was still in the planning stages, Moore told us: "Hopefully, in a year or two, Martin City is synonymous with the best beer in Kansas City."

We're about to find out. We're looking forward to checking out the taproom (and the pizza) this weekend.
