Noure Kamal, the owner of the three-year-old Marrakech Cafe at 4116 Broadway, fought a brave battle against the lingering aroma of mothballs wafting into his dining room from the Oriental carpeting shop next door. But last week, he threw in the proverbial towel and closed the restaurant down - for good.
"I tried everything possible to control the odor," Kamal says. "But even my most loyal customers told me that they couldn't stand the smell."
Kamal says he is in negotiations for another venue in Westport and hopes to open a new Marrakech Cafe before the end of the year.
