Genessee Royale, Oklahoma Joe's get some gas-station love from Bon Appetit

Fill up at the Gennessee Royale Bistro.
In a city of drivers, it's only natural that we would be good at repurposing old service stations. Bon Appetit has released a list of the "16 Great Restaurants in Old or Still-Functioning Gas Stations." Specificity aside, a pair of Kansas City restaurants - the Genessee Royale Bistro in the West Bottoms and Oklahoma Joe's in Kansas City, Kansas - cracked the list. Olio in St. Louis, housed in a former Standard Oil filling station, also made the cut.

If you're in need of inspiration, head over to the Genessee Royale for the Brown Shugga Bacon Monkey Bread (served only on Saturdays). It has the addictive properties of any food that alternates between salty and sweet. And the Gypsy Royale Market, a regular collection of artists and local food artisans, is held on Saturdays in the parking lot between the Genessee Royale and Amigoni Winery.
