Bill Murray is not crashing a party in Kansas City

  • Bill Murray isn't coming to KC.

Anyone with Internet access probably saw the "Bill Murray Party Crashing" story in the last 24 hours. Among the dates — August 16 in KCMO. Except, Murray isn't coming.

Chicagoist debunked the story, which apparently was traced back to a website called Super Official News.

The flier promoting the so-called party crashing tour promised:

"To participate your party must have alcohol and karaoke available. Any house or location interested must have a sheet or banner of some kind attached to their establishment the night of the party. It must say in big bold letter, 'BILL MURRAY CAN CRASH HERE.' This will let Mr. Murray know where he is welcome."

Chicagoist writes that there were two tells:

First, the flier listed a hotline number with a 785 area code. Wait, 785? That's the Lawrence/Topeka area code. And the number is for the Westboro Baptist Church.

Second, Super Official News' story claimed that Murray's agent was fielding reporters questions. Murray doesn't have an agent or a manager.

Sorry, folks. Wish it were true.
